Free Press Summer Fest!

FPSF is an annual two-day festival that is normally held at the beautiful Eleanor Tinsley Park, which boasts quite a view of downtown Houston, Texas, and is hosted by Free Press, an arts, music, and culture publication. This year's headliners included Tove Lo, Major Lazer, Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia, Chance the Rapper, Skrillex, St. Vincent, Weezer, R. Kelly, Odesza, and Flume. Because of the terrible flooding two weeks ago, it was unsafe to hold the festival at its usual location. After a little brainstorming, the event was moved to NRG Park near the Astrodome. With over five stages of live music and tons of food trucks to choose from, I knew I was in for a treat

Day 1

Days of weather in the mid 90's in the Texas heat called for optimal hydration! I made sure to drink 8+ cups of water, before heading out to the festival late Saturday afternoon. I brought an empty water bottle, since there were refill stations scattered around the park.

Comfort is necessary for a daylong festival. This backless, relaxed, super thin romper allowed me to dance with no restrictions. I wore it a little lower, so that it would completely cover my bum. And, being a Florida native, I jump on every opportunity to wear a bikini!

I loved the floating strings of red, blue, and green balloons!

Day 2

I got to secure this pretty line of balloons! The weather reached 95 degrees this day, so I made sure to drink plenty of water and reapply my Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 every two hours to keep my skin hydrated and protected. No burns here!

Here is one of the less grainy pictures that I took from the weekend. Tove Lo gave an awesome performance at one of the bigger stages. She talked and showed a lot of body!

My friend's black and gold G-Shock caught my eye! You can find it here.

Bracelet - from Colombia (I haven't taken it off, since I got it there in December!) / Gold Bow Ring - Little Distractions $6

Being a music and food lover, this event was heaven for me. Music could be heard from every corner of the vast park. My favorite artists were Odesza, Major Lazer, Flume, and Tove Lo. I also indulged on steak kimchi fries - and there was a good amount of kimchi on it! - from Coreanos, a food truck that combines Korean BBQ and Mexican fare, and the chicken and waffle burger from The Waffle Bus. Both were amazing and so savory! I wish I had taken photos, but I devoured them pretty quickly. :)

I cannot wait for my next festival.

Happy hump day, y'all!

xo,

Teresa Thuy
