[Mmm…Monday] Easy Matcha Tea Latte Recipe!

[Mmm…Monday] Easy Matcha Tea Latte Recipe!

MATCHA. Its distinct, garden aroma and bright green color. All with an abundance of health benefits! I sampled Lovely Day matcha at Houston’s summer Pop Shop and discovered matcha green tea made from scratch is even better than the steeped squares aaaand DELICIOUS. You know I had to purchase a packet to make it for myself. But really… what makes matcha better than regular green tea?

Matcha vs. Other Teas

Matcha tea comes from a leaf called tencha that is grown in the shade to stimulate the growth of chlorophyll, which aids in the detoxification of harmful toxins in the blood. Matcha tea is the only tea made from the entire leaf, which attributes to its many benefits. The leaves are steamed, dried, and ground to a very fine powder.

Matcha is a great source of vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, and trace minerals.

One cup of matcha provides ten times as many antioxidants as one cup of green tea! It is rich in antioxidants, including polyphenols, catechins, and chlorophyll. The most plentiful catechin is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which fights free radicals and protects the body from inflammation, cancer, and aging.

Matcha also contains L-theanine, an amino acid that helps calm and provide mental clarity and alertness.

Lovely Day Matcha

Lovely Day offers premium matcha from small, family-run tea farms from the Wazuka region of Japan renowned for matcha, and tea accessories from local Japanese makers. The matcha is packed in lightweight food pouches, instead of metal tins, to minimize their environmental footprint!
